Archivio Marcello Vittorini. Cultura edilizia e tecniche costruttive in Via Cavedone e Levante Emilia a Bologna

Archive of Marcello Vittorini, witness of sixty years in academic and professional activity, has been recognized by the Ministry of Heritage and Culture of considerable historical interest and, in 2008, has been donated at the University of L'Aquila by the same Vittorini. The complexity of the material or the materials, the large number of projects, and no less interesting and relevant for number and content, the complex of written documents and collections of texts, representing his work within a framework of cultural references and his participation, also critical, in the debate on architecture and urban planning, involves a reflection on research work that is capable to give account of this coherent plurality that is distinctive peculiarity of Vittorini. As a part of a complex reasoning on the archive, addressed to outline specific topics and study directions, this article presents the two projects of Cavedone and Levante Emilia, in Bologna, where Marcello Vittorini experiences the "rationalization of traditional building techniques" employed, not only as an operational tool, but, in the particular Italian context, as research field for the definition of a "serious national building custom".
