Bladder outlet obstruction (BOO) is one of the most common complications following anti-incontinence surgery, affecting up to 15% of patients after midurethral sling surgery [1]. The most accepted cause is excessive tension applied to the bladder outlet. However, even if the sling is positioned in a tension-free manner, BOO can occur postoperatively for reasons that are not well understood. For many years, formal urethrolysis was used to treat BOO after anti-incontinence surgery, until Ghoniem [2] introduced an easier and successful technique of transvaginal midline tape incision for treatment of post-sling obstruction.
