The aim of this paper is to propose and validate a method for numerically simulating water waves generated by subaerial landslides by means of Boussinesq-Type Equations (BTE); a source term is included into the mass equation to approximately account for the transfer of energy from the landslide to the water. The proposed method is carefully validated by comparing numerical with experimental results. A discussion on the strategies for numerical modelling water waves generated by subaerial landslides is also carried out.

Abstract
