Water wave runup of impulsively generated waves is numerically and analytically investigated, by means of a numerical methodology based on the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) model and an analytical model simulating the Non Linear Shallow Water Equations (NLSWE). The idea is to reproduce the waves generation process and to get correct water surface oscillations using the computational expensive SPH code till the point where a faster analytical model can be applied. There, the NLSWE analytical model starts propagating the surface oscillations and then simulated waves runup. Results of the proposed strategy are compared to experimental findings of a study performed at the Environmental and Maritime Hydraulic Laboratory LIAM of L’Aquila University (Italy).
