“Estilo, lengua y traducción al italiano de Las respuestas del agua, de José María Saussol”

– Las respuestas del agua, by José María Saussol, is a poetic novel of great linguistic and stylistic interest, notable for the variety of its expressive registers and its use of Extremadura’s dialect. Equally intriguing is its Italian translation (Le risposte dell’acqua). In this article, I examine both texts as a way to approach issues related to literary translation and the complex theme of translating geographical dialects as well as realias and idioms. I also dwell on the problem of translating proper names.
