This paper deals with the drive cycle effects on the fuel consumption of a small-sized hydrogen city bus. The vehicle power train consists of in-wheel electric motors fed by a hybrid unit power realized with a hydrogen fuel cell and a flywheel energy storage system. A mini bus is simulated to run along two different urban paths consisting of a similar European standard (ECE-15) drive cycle and a real bus drive cycle, tested along a bus line in the urban area of L’Aquila (Italy) with cars mixed traffic conditions. Finally, electric energy requirement and hydrogen consumption are calculated and compared for the two studied drive paths.

Abstract
This paper deals with the drive cycle effects on the fuel consumption of a small-sized hydrogen city bus. The vehicle power train consists of in-wheel electric motors fed by a hybrid unit power realized with a hydrogen fuel cell and a flywheel energy storage system. A mini bus is simulated to run along two different urban paths consisting of a similar European standard (ECE-15) drive cycle and a real bus drive cycle, tested along a bus line in the urban area of L’Aquila (Italy) with cars mixed traffic conditions. Finally, electric energy requirement and hydrogen consumption are calculated and compared for the two studied drive paths.Pubblicazioni consigliate
