Dental hygiene procedures are the primary steps to prevent and treat oral microbial diseases such as tooth decay and periodontitis. However, these procedures can be psychologically difficult for patients to face. It is normal to feel some discomfort during these procedures, although this can sometimes cause patients to avoid dental hygiene procedures, starting a negative cycle and leading to the accumulation of tartar and the increase of microbial load in the oral cavity. Therefore, it is prudent to consider the application of natural extracts with healing and relieving properties after air-polishing procedures. This commentary discusses complementary herbal medicine applied in the dental field, which could be used in the treatment of dental patients.

Abstract
Dental hygiene procedures are the primary steps to prevent and treat oral microbial diseases such as tooth decay and periodontitis. However, these procedures can be psychologically difficult for patients to face. It is normal to feel some discomfort during these procedures, although this can sometimes cause patients to avoid dental hygiene procedures, starting a negative cycle and leading to the accumulation of tartar and the increase of microbial load in the oral cavity. Therefore, it is prudent to consider the application of natural extracts with healing and relieving properties after air-polishing procedures. This commentary discusses complementary herbal medicine applied in the dental field, which could be used in the treatment of dental patients.Pubblicazioni consigliate
