The functional and dynamic town of Nineteenth Century - expression of the progress and growth of the Countries of the industrial capitalism, summarized in some archetypes of modernity - has been absorbed, swallowed up and, sometimes, marginalised in the rapid processes of urbanization, started after the Second World War and exploded in the last thirty years of the Twentieth Century. Through indicative examples, the present essay seeks to recognize in the recovery of these architecture and parts of town their reconversion to the needs of comfort and consumption (food and not only) of Contemporaneity.
