After a short introduction about the Briefkultur in Germany in the eighteenth- century, based in a very important study written in 1889-1891, the essay will analyze the function of the letter in some "experimental" works within Friedrich Schiller's literary and philosophic production. It will thus try to offer a synthetic framework for the meaning of this literary device in the author's oeuvre.
