Abstract

The environmental problems also caused by the building industry require actions by operators in the sector that are not only linked to the regulatory requirement, but above all to the economic enhancement of the construction processes. Only through economic advantage is it possible to trigger voluntary environmental protection mechanisms. One of the possible strategies is the reuse of waste materials. The implementation of this strategy requires specific training involving many aspects including the analysis of the territorial context, the management of demolition, the control of durability, the ability to define the performance and the control of the reversibility of the construction system. The paper illustrates an experience of training of specialized technicians through the design and construction in self-construction of temporary modules reusing waste materials from the sites that are working in post-seismic reconstruction in L’Aquila.
