Gli ingegneri Inverardi nell’edilizia scolastica nel corso del Novecento in Abruzzo

Inverardi’s Studio is identified since its foundation as a team of design which works in all the fields of engineer and architecture. In all the four gener-ations of the family, from Giuseppe, the forefather of the activity, to his sons Achille and Riccardo, then Pierluigi and the actual heirs, they operated in the hydraulic and civil engineering not only in L’Aquila city and the neighbor-hood, but also in Central Italy: buildings, houses, schools indicate how the ac-tivity, initially based on hydraulics, enlarged in time. The present paper intends to focus on some projects conducted in Abruzzo’s territory during the first half of 20th century, in the field of scholar con-structions and services in the national and local context. There are analyzed lot of projects, designed by Giuseppe, then Riccardo and Achille Inverardi, in which also Pierluigi took part during the Sixties, which explained the whole ac-tivity related to the functional, formal and structural aspects by the engineers; in some cases, the structures, with the first experimentations in reinforced concrete, and the study of classrooms’ orientation can be considered as pre-cursors.
