An active phased-array antenna for satellite SAR applications is shown. The main requirements for a satellite SAR antenna are not only the central frequency and bandwidth, the azimuth and elevation steering angles, the efficiency but also the polarization purity, the return loss and isolation between the ports of each array element. Basic design strategies to achieve target specifications are shown together with an optimized antenna model. Numerical results show a bandwidth of 40% with 35 dB isolation between the ports and -35 dB cross-polarization level.
