All the electrical quantities of the transmission line, such as load voltage or input impedance, can be directly written in the Laplace domain. Closed-form expressions of poles and residues are presented and two - port rational function representations provided.

Abstract

An approach to the study of transmission lines and interconnects based on ladder networks is presented. The conventional lumped segmentation of transmission fines is assumed as the starting point for deriving a physically based expansion of the propagation function, thus providing a new representation of the transmission line. All the electrical quantities of the transmission line, such as load voltage or input impedance, can be directly written in the Laplace domain. Closed-form expressions of poles and residues are presented and two - port rational function representations provided.
