Italian Health Profession Degree Programs academic failure is comprised between 30 and 39%. Considering the progressive increase of this phenomenon and the recent Italian Law (D.M. n. 47, 2013) that considers academic failure as an indicator of educational inefficiency, it is become a priority to reflect on its determinants. Academic failure is due to a complex interaction between individual (e.g. age, gender), institutional (e.g. number of the students in the classes) and political factors (e.g. profession social image). Among this context, in order to increase educational efficiency, it is necessary to test multi-level strategies ranging from recruitment process to the curriculum redesign, as well as from the control of the lecturers and clinical learning environment quality, to the optimal tutor to students ratio. Strengthening the collaboration at different level, aiming to evaluate the effectiveness of the strategies undertaken is crucial.
