La questione del cinema nell’estetica italiana tra primo e secondo Novecento: esiti teorico-storici e prospettive di ricerca

It once again puts forward, examines, and compares the philosophical reflections on cinema that developed in Italy during the early and late 20th Century. In these reflections, the attempt to confront the problem of a renovation of the neo-idealistic aesthetics can be singled out starting from the fact that these reflections shed light on the deficiency of the frames of systematic-philosophical nature, highlighting the unsuitability of the interpretative schemes of both investigations ending at an intellectualistic level, and investigations that instead recovered a mystic-intellectualistic plan. Therefore, the theoretical debate on cinema in Italy, during the abovementioned historical period, happens to highlight more than a few deficiencies in the philosophical reflection on art, for this reflection seems to remain only partially philosophical, compromising itself with the pragmatic plans of the poetics.
