The paper presents the results of 2D numerical analysis of a system producing magnetic levitation force by high critical temperature superconducting (HTCS) plate interacts with Nd-Fe-B permanent magnet fixed in “U” shaped iron loose slot. The system reproduces, by simplified analogy, the behaviour of superconducting “runner” on board of magnetic levitated vehicle, moving above a magnetic guideway. A finite element bi-dimensional parametric model of the system has been carried out and refined with results of previous experimental tests. The phenomenon of magnetic interaction has been studied by a methodological investigation using the parametrical characteristics of numerical model. Several analyses have been carried out; flux density distribution and magnetic forces have been evaluated with reference to different configurations of system. The results are presented by means abacus relating levitation pressure to no-dimensional indexes.
