We report on Artemisia umbelliformis subsp. eriantha and Leontopodium nivale, species belonging to the Asteraceae family, which are subendemics of both medicinal and ecological interest. The first one is mostly utilized for liqueur preparation while the latter one is well-known for its anti-inflammatory activity. Experimental protocols aimed to the rapid multiplication of both species have been developed; in the case of Artemisia, regenerated plants have been reintroduced in experimental fields in the ‘Gran Sasso Monti della Laga’ National Park.

Abstract

We report on Artemisia umbelliformis subsp. eriantha and Leontopodium nivale, species belonging to the Asteraceae family, which are subendemics of both medicinal and ecological interest. The first one is mostly utilized for liqueur preparation while the latter one is well-known for its anti-inflammatory activity. Experimental protocols aimed to the rapid multiplication of both species have been developed; in the case of Artemisia, regenerated plants have been reintroduced in experimental fields in the ‘Gran Sasso Monti della Laga’ National Park.
