The increased sensitivity towards habitat protection in terms of environmental pollution, which in recent years has involved the energy performance of existing buildings, has also affected the real estate assets of public and private entities. These include the buildings owned by the University of L'Aquila (Italy) which for this purpose has set a series of objectives for sustainable development and energy efficiency of the buildings. This paper reports the first results relating to the research concerning the construction of the capturing roofs necessary to reduce the consumption of non-renewable energy relating to the management of the buildings of the educational centers and to aim the Sustainable Development Goals of the Agenda 2030. On the technological level, one of the topics that is being defined is that relating to the architectural integration of photovoltaics, which aims to combine the peculiarities of the components of photovoltaic technology with those of the existing building envelope, with particular reference to the cover closures. Furthermore, another purpose of the working group is to monitor data and returns that will emerge from energy efficiency operations, in order to also carry out an applied research activity in the field. This monitoring is under development and its results are not the subject of this paper.
