WORK RELATED STRESS: A NEW RISK. STUDY IN A GROUP OF WORKERS AFTER AN EARTHQUAKE EXPERIENCE ABSTRACT. Main target of our study was to elaborate an objective work related stress evaluation method. Our survey was divided into two steps: A) Preliminary risk assessment of work related stress in a pharmaceutical industry of L’Aquila done before the earthquake event using an objective method derived from NIOSH and guidelines and the on 346 workers (183 male and 163 female, mean age 49±3,43); B) Analysis of psychophysical effects of 2009 earthquake experience after two weeks from working activity restart using WHOQOL, STAI Y 1, Y2 and BDI test and psychological interviews, (done on 87 people, 48 female and 39 male). The preliminary evaluation showed that people with biggest workload, high responsibility and temporary people presented higher risk of work related stress, especially managers and production workers as expected from literature. Psychological study revealed a general reduction of the quality of life, mostly at psychological level. 70,135 of examined workers was affected by state anxiety, 44,87% trait anxiety, 29,89% reached a score varying from lieve to moderate-severe. Our survey revealed an anxiety level greater than literature data and highest values of anxiety were found in the area of production workers and quality inspectors already classified at risk of stress in the preliminary assessment
