Abstract

This paper intends to read the story of Ser Ciappelletto (Dec. I 1) highlighting its performa- tive traits. They are evident from the division into textual units, transmitted by the Decameron’s autograph, the ms. Hamilton 90. The singular analogies of the Decameronian narrative with the stylistic technique of Visual writing, now very popular in screenplays for cinema, contributes also to the “theatrical” effect, which seems almost to be associated in Boccaccio with a wise literary use of the discourse markers.
