During the last 10 years a significant increase of the childhood neuropsychiatric disorders such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has been registered. ADHD is believed to have a multifactorial etiology including multiple genetic and prenatal environmental factors. For this reason, there has been a recent revival regarding the role of autoimmunity in this pathology. The identification of susceptibility genes for the neuropsychiatric syndromes represents an international effort and in this study we have illustrated the interesting case of a child born from a drug addicted mother showing both ADHD genetic and behavioural features and autism genetic predisposition.
