Clock or timing synchronization is a common requirement for many application: automation and control systems, power systems, fault detection, grid operation, etc. Thanks to GNSS signals, providing the Universal Coordinated Time (UTC), it is possible to coordinate different points in the network making easier identify the occurrence of many type of events with a submicrosecond precision. In this paper results are reported of an experimental activity directed to reach maximum performance from low cost receiver. By a four step improvement procedure it is shown how is possible to achieve in terms of time difference precision measured as offset between PPS signals.

Abstract
Clock or timing synchronization is a common requirement for many application: automation and control systems, power systems, fault detection, grid operation, etc. Thanks to GNSS signals, providing the Universal Coordinated Time (UTC), it is possible to coordinate different points in the network making easier identify the occurrence of many type of events with a submicrosecond precision. In this paper results are reported of an experimental activity directed to reach maximum performance from low cost receiver. By a four step improvement procedure it is shown how is possible to achieve in terms of time difference precision measured as offset between PPS signals.Pubblicazioni consigliate
