"Schopenhauer and the empirical confirmations of philosophy”

Questo articolo analizza "La volontà nella natura" (1836) di Schopenhauer, un libro che generalmente è poco stimato dagli studiosi dell'opera di Schopenhuer. Qui si analizza la genesi del testo nei manoscritti del filosofo, si esamina il suo ruolo nel pensiero di Schopenhauer e in relazione al "Mondo come volontà e rappresentazione", e si individuano i suoi contenuti e significati con riferimento al contesto filosofico e scientifico dell'epoca. Scopo di questo saggio è una migliore comprensione del libro del 1836, a partire da un esame circostanziato del suo tema centrale: la nozione di "Bestätigung", la "conferma" scientifica della conoscenza filosofica.

This paper focuses on Schopenhauer’s "On the will in nature" (1836), a book which is generally underestimated by scholars interested in Schopenhauer’s philosophy. This essay analyses its genesis in Schopenhauer’s manuscripts, examines its role in Schopenhauer’s thought and its relationship with The world as will and representation, and locates its content and meaning with reference to the philosophical and scientific context. Aim of the article is a better understanding of Schopenhauer’s 1836 book, and such a scope is pursued by accurate insight of its central theme: the notion of Bestätigung, that is the scientific corroboration of the philosophical knowledge.
