Abstract
The vv. 541 ss. of the XI book of the Odyssey (Nekyia) seem to be a retraction of the epic myth of hoplon krisis: Odysseus and the other Achaean chiefs are exculpated from their moral responsibilities for the death of Aiax. A careful survey of the literary and iconographic sources demostrates that this myth was extensively narrated also in the epic Cycle, in particular in the Aethiopis: here, on the contrary, emerged the responsibilites of Achaean chiefs in the choise between Aiax and Odysseus. The Odyssey established a competitive relationship with the cyclic poem on this myth.Pubblicazioni consigliate
