The design of biodiversity monitoring networks is a well-identified problem in environmental engineering and has received considerable attention during the last decades. However, there is still room for further advancement in optimizing them to provide accurate and comprehensive information while also being cost-effective. We present the preparatory phase of a low-cost autonomous biodiversity monitoring network to be installed within the frame of the project BEST (Addressing joint Agro and Aqua-Biodiversity pressures Enhancing SuSTainable Rural Development) funded by the INTERREG VA Greece-Italy 2014/2020 Program, as well as the data analysis needed to synthesize and use the collected data.

Abstract
