The goal of the paper is to propose a procedure to predict the flux linkages and torque maps starting from a limited set of measured data. The experimental mapping method combines the tests sequence measuring self-axis saturation characteristics, and the magnetic model based on co-energy. The mapping is physically feasible with few tests, taking the cross-saturation inherently into account: the measurements are required only along the map boundaries, then the co-energy approach permits to well approximate the mapping inside. The accuracy of the method has been compared with the reference measurements from constant-speed method applied to a 3kW Synchronous Reluctance machine.
