Abstract

What is predominant in scientific observation is not just reality itself but perception of it. The representative models of reality make knowledge organization easier and are constantly evolving since technologies’ development and testing techniques allow increasingly expanded, precise and focused checks. Models are irreplaceable elements of conjunction, real interface between reality and the experimental sciences field. Any model from the iconic to the most abstract or formal, does not entail a complete and real transcription of the object that represents but a small selection of some qualities of it. While operating an architectural survey, the model representing the artifact, provides a range of useful information about it, under a particular and precise historical moment. The model is suitable to studies and establishments in history, not for its relationship with the object represented, but as a document related tu historical and cultural context that had produced it. While working on complex issues related to the protection of historical and architectural heritage, is essential to overcome this knowledge strictly linked to the survey of what is visible. The creative and productive conformation of the architectural event does not end in space and figurative values that are perceptual and visual, but is supported by technical and functional construction aspects. In the space-structural dimension, typical of architecture, the substance is not pure and formless element but complied and conformed component of architecture. The survey of the building technology is, therefore, a precondition for the definition of a graphical model that can provide information that overcomes the visible element and that fully expresses the substance and construction reality, basis of architecture. All considered, in that case, we can refer to a real anatomic design. This knowledge is fundamental to the restoration and earthquake-proof strengthening project. In the field of 3D digital modeling technology a necessary correspondence between the model of documentary and interpret survey and the predictive design model. The 3D model for SiArch (architectural information system) requires an experimental definition of its qualities (characteristic, structure, configuration, information content) so that it can support and act as an intermediary between the reality, knowledge and conservation project.
