In the last decades of the 20th century, the recovery of built heritage, that is considered a not to be wasted resource, became at the center of the architectural debate. However, the practice of worksite had not always lead to satisfactory results, penalized by an ever decreasing presence of specialized workers in the art of traditional construction. The first recovery manuals, in fact, were created with the aim of disseminating traditional construction techniques to promote the material and testimonial conservation of ancient buildings. Unlike 19th century manuals, however, those of the 20th century (and over) had to confront with current legislation (technical and otherwise), which inevitably had conditioned practice. Its continuous updating gives manuals a decisive role, regardless of their specialization, such as to make them complementary to the legislation itself. Their most significant contribution lies in having oriented the legislation towards technical solutions, arising from an initial cognitive moment, increasingly compatible with the existing and not very dissimilar to those used for the restoration of cultural buildings.

Abstract
Their most significant contribution lies in having oriented the legislation towards technical solutions, arising from an initial cognitive moment, increasingly compatible with the existing and not very dissimilar to those used for the restoration of cultural buildings.Pubblicazioni consigliate
