The real-time monitoring of the construction site environment using sensors is necessary to ensure safety in terms of accidents and health. A sensor-based ap-proach can be significantly beneficial in increasing management efficiency, and can provide an useful tool for Building Information Modeling. Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have become particularly well suited for the deployment of smart monitoring systems. Among all the technical solutions for WSN develop-ment, Long Range (LoRa) modulation technology and Narrowband Internet Of Things (NB-IoT) are among the most effective for Low Power Wide Area Net-work (LPWAN) implementation solutions. In this study, a LoRa-based autono-mous system for the structural health and air quality monitoring of a construction site is presented. The network was deployed in the test scenario of Fossa, L’Aquila, Italy. The information gathered with the monitoring system is used to keep the building site safe for workers, and to operate warning procedures or work interruption in case of necessity.

Abstract
The information gathered with the monitoring system is used to keep the building site safe for workers, and to operate warning procedures or work interruption in case of necessity.Pubblicazioni consigliate
