The 13th Supplement to the journal Archeologia e Calcolatori publishes the Proceedings of the conference “Archeologia e Nuove Tecnologie: dalla teoria ai protocolli esecutivi”(Siena, 25–27 October 2023). The volume takes stock of the current “acceleration” of archaeological digital practices, framing photogrammetry as a recent methodological turning point and identifying BIM, Virtual Reality/metaverse environments, and Artificial Intelligence as major emerging trajectories that demand critical, evidence-based evaluation. The contributions (22 papers, plus concluding remarks) are organized into four thematic sections: archaeological data management; diagnostic and non-invasive analyses; three-dimensional approaches; and public engagement. Together they present a wide range of case studies and workflows—spanning quantitative and GIS-based analyses, integrated remote-sensing and geophysical prospection, archaeometry and monitoring protocols, BIM and linked-data strategies, mobile LiDAR applications, immersive and “multi-metaverse” excavation environments, theory and applications on AI, bias, image generation, and archaeogaming.

Abstract
Together they present a wide range of case studies and workflows—spanning quantitative and GIS-based analyses, integrated remote-sensing and geophysical prospection, archaeometry and monitoring protocols, BIM and linked-data strategies, mobile LiDAR applications, immersive and “multi-metaverse” excavation environments, theory and applications on AI, bias, image generation, and archaeogaming.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
