An accurate circuit model of a two-port square-loop antenna is presented in this article. The circuit consists of equivalent lumped elements based on the quasi-static partial element equivalent circuit (PEEC) method, under the thin-wire approximation. The introduced model is applied to calculate the transient port response for an impulsive electromagnetic (EM) plane-wave excitation, enabling separate electric and magnetic effects analysis. The presented results are validated with the aid of both state-of-the-art analytical solutions and PEEC method, and with a commercial EM tool.

Abstract

An accurate circuit model of a two-port square-loop antenna is presented in this article. The circuit consists of equivalent lumped elements based on the quasi-static partial element equivalent circuit (PEEC) method, under the thin-wire approximation. The introduced model is applied to calculate the transient port response for an impulsive electromagnetic (EM) plane-wave excitation, enabling separate electric and magnetic effects analysis. The presented results are validated with the aid of both state-of-the-art analytical solutions and PEEC method, and with a commercial EM tool.
