This article brings new data to bear on the reconstruction of funeral celebrations held in Naples in 1689 in honor of Queen Maria Luisa of Orléans, consort of Charles II of Habsburg, King of Spain. Retracing the commemoration through the written sources that record it such as Domenico Confuorto's Giornali di Napoli and the Cerimoniale 1483 – it highlights the hitherto overlooked testimony of Abbot Giovanni Battista Pacichelli, who served as general agent of the estate of Duke Ranuccio II Farnese in Southern Italy, and a report held in the State Archives of Parma, dated May 17, 1689, that allows for a more detailed reconstruction of the ephemeral apparatus, especially the catafalque designed by Aniello Perrone.
