The reuse of industrial heritage involves maintaining and repurposing locations, buildings and structures while recognising their cultural and historical importance. Adaptive reuse is a significant approach to retrofitting built heritage for new uses. Only an accurate knowledge of the existing building can lead to efficient and sustainable redevelopment, respecting the building's identity while reducing costs, environmental emissions, and construction time. In this context, digital techniques such as Building Information Modelling can inform the design phase by developing documentation and reconstructing the characteristics of architectural heritage. However, the issue of recovering industrial heritage using digital techniques has not been widely investigated in the literature. This research proposes a methodological approach that starts with an in-depth knowledge of industrial heritage, obtained through archive and visual in situ analyses and the use of non-destructive techniques such as infrared thermography. The subsequent digital classification and cataloguing of the acquired information through a Building Information Modelling model enables agile management of the information, facilitating its rapid implementation and ensuring it is easily accessible to various stakeholders. The final step involves developing reuse scenarios and choosing a compatible project through elaborating a multi-criteria evaluation system that considers the compatibility of new functions and redevelopment technologies. This methodology was applied to an industrial complex in L'Aquila, Italy, leading to its adaptive and sustainable reuse
