This paper aims to examine Cassirer’s reception of Kant as analyzed, from both a philological and a historical-theoretical perspective, through the Giuseppe Cacciatore (1945-2023)’s point of view. The latter falls within the framework of what Cacciatore himself has termed ‘critical-problematic historicism’ and which has recently been further redefined as ‘critical humanism’. The Cacciatore’s theses on Cassirer interpreter of Kant, underpinned by years of historiographical work during which he scrutinized with expert rigor the texts, contexts and intellectual trajectories of the philosopher of ‘symbolic forms’, are set out in a 1995 essay which forms the primary focus of the following pages.
