We describe the dynamics of vehicular traffic flow in presence of moving bottlenecks, namely slower vehicles moving along the flow of cars. The resulting model consists of an ODE for vehicles’ trajectories and a scalar conservation law for car density. We present an existence result in the case of a single bottleneck and then we validate both the single and the multiple bottlenecks models by means of numerical simulations
