A mathematical model has been set up to describe piston and displacer motion in the linear, free-displacer, reversed Stirling cycle cooler. A special case has been identified having analytical solution. This has been compared with the numerical counterpart and found to be in agreement. The motion equations have been combined with a simplified cycle analysis, permitting identification of the parameters determining thermodynamic behavior.
