Strain PA 01, identified as Pedomicrobium sp., was isolated on the basis of the capability to remove volatile sulfur containing fragments, including H,S, from carboxythiophene and the heterocyclic sulfurated molecules: benzothiofene, thianthrene, thiophene, thiophenecarboxyaldehyde and dibenzothiophene.
