The hydroxyl radical, OH, is the primary oxidant in the troposphere. It removes many pollutants like CO, CH4, SO2 and non-methane hydrocarbons. OH is closely linked with the hydroperoxyl radical (HO2), which plays a key role in tropospheric O3 production. The reaction of OH with NO2 and SO2 leads to the formation of acids, which are responsible for acid rain. We present the results of the OH and HO2 measurements conducted during the extensive TexAQS 2000 campaign in the urban site of Houston, Texas. During this campaign OH and HO2 were detected using Laser Induced Fluorescence at low pressure (FAGE-LIF). Hydroxyl radical values are analyzed for correlation with other species and photolysis frequencies.
