The development and application of methods to monitor the wear state of the grinding wheel are intended to obtain optimised cutting tools and machining parameters. In this work some techniques for grinding wheel surface monitoring in machining of natural stones are proposed. Grinding wheel wear assessment has been carried out measuring grinding forces by means of a piezoelectric dynamometer, flat area percentage and temperature on active surface of the tool by means of a vision system and an infrared pyrometer respectively. Workpiece surface roughness has been assessed by means of a mechanical profilometer and surface quality has been investigated by SEM analysis. Monitoring tests have been carried out on two types of marble: Carrara and Coreno.

Abstract
Monitoring tests have been carried out on two types of marble: Carrara and Coreno.Pubblicazioni consigliate
