Abstract

A CAD model of human body is generated from magnetic resonance images (MRI) by a segmentation procedure. This model is used to predict the communication performances of ultra wideband (UWB) antennas for body area network (BAN) in different scenarios by an electromagnetic field numerical tool. The transmitting UWB antenna is considered to be on (wearable) and in (implanted) the human body, while the receiving UWB antenna is placed in air and faced to the transmitting antenna. The path-loss is computed assuming different tilt positions of the transmitting antenna and separation distances between antennas.
