Abstract

The dynamic behaviour of a continuosly stirred steam heated gravity tank is governed by a system of semilinear and nonlinear differential-algebraic equations. With a minimum of sempifications and the definitions of new auxiliary variables implicit and explicit marching solutions are obtained for level and temperatures with a combination of Laplace and difference equation method (LD). Comparison with rigorous models and simplified linarized models are carried out . Unlike linear models no limitations are experienced on input variations for their validity is extended to start-up and shut-down operations. The performance of conventional and non conventional Feedforward, Feedback and Internal Model Control configurations is evaluated and their results compared.
