Abstract

The electronic components soldered on the boards of the modern telecommunication and consumer equipments are characterized by increased switching speeds. Consequently the noise on the power buses induced by the transient switching currents became a main concern for the electronic designer. On the other hand topics like reliability and cost effectiveness are of paramount importance in determining the success of a product on the market. The paper, by means of specifically designed boards, analyzes the power supply decoupling techniques on multilayer printed circuit boards with an eye to their costs and manufacturability.
