The paper presents an optimization procedure for the design of Sulface PM Synchronous Motors. The procedure allows first the defining of the optimal motor dimensions by means of Space Harmonic Analysis and then refining the design by using a routine that integrates the Finite Element Method with a minimization techniqm. Several optimized designs are presented and discussed.

Abstract
