In a competitive environment small and medium enterprises (i.e. SMEs) need to increase their production to reduce costs and delivery time. The major problem afflicting SMEs is a fragmentary production among different plants. This problem has been born like a consequence of domain increase and so a no optimized grow. In this way, many efforts are spent to transport semi manufactured among plants. In the present work, an innovative algorithm capable to optimize production allocation inter/intra plants minimizing production costs and lead-time is proposed. Key production costs (e.g., raw material costs, human costs, outsourcing costs, management costs, penalties, storehouse costs) are taken into account. The manufacture products cycle, the storehouse capacity, establishment size and the machines size and the resources saturation are some constraints considered by this methodology. Many important information regarding the plant and the optimal distribution of machines among the establishments to minimize the transport costs and globally to reduce the production costs and times can be easily carried out by the employment of this algorithm.
