Investigating on the effects exerted by EMFs on the angiogenesis process we found that an ELF-EMF (2mT, 50 Hz) down-regulated HUVECs proliferation, migration and formation of tubule in vitro and seemed to inhibit VEGFR2 and ERK phosphorylation and expression. We suggest that EMFs could to interact with the VEGF signalling pathway and we provide a possible hypothesis on the mechanism of action of EMF.

Abstract

Investigating on the effects exerted by EMFs on the angiogenesis process we found that an ELF-EMF (2mT, 50 Hz) down-regulated HUVECs proliferation, migration and formation of tubule in vitro and seemed to inhibit VEGFR2 and ERK phosphorylation and expression. We suggest that EMFs could to interact with the VEGF signalling pathway and we provide a possible hypothesis on the mechanism of action of EMF.
