An experimental study on formwork pressure exerted by Self Compacting Concrete (SCC) was carried out using instrumented formworks. Various casting rates and two SCC mixtures were considered in combination with two different structural shapes: wall and column. The data of formwork pressures reported in the paper were recorded both during and after castings, and a simple theoretical model is introduced to give a description of them Experimental results showed that SCC can generate the same formwork pressures of a fluid having the concrete density. However, the main variable affecting the formwork pressures is the casting rate that, if properly low, can help to control the concrete thrusts. A reduction of the formwork pressures was noticed in the case of a high structure cast using SCC with reduced w/b ratio.

Abstract
A reduction of the formwork pressures was noticed in the case of a high structure cast using SCC with reduced w/b ratio.Pubblicazioni consigliate
