Abstract

People with disabilities have the same motivations to travel as the rest of the community. However, they often face a range of constraints and barriers. A really economically relevant market segment is the one related to accessible activities, oriented to tourists with certain disabilities. The word disability may be misleading, because only around 5% of disabled people are wheelchair users. Most blind and vision-impaired people do not have sufficient residual sight to permit travelling safely and independently. Suitable facilities that may meet their needs are a solution. In this paper a project related to create accessible tourism facilities in a mountain resort is described. This project also has invited students to think out of the box and work towards problem solving in the world of social inclusion.
