During the period between December 1997 and April 1998, our Raman-Rayleigh lidar was tested and calibrated for simulta-neous measurements of water vapour and aerosol scattering ratio profiles. Few observations have been made in presence of thin clouds, in such cases we study the possible correlation between the observed water vapour and aerosol scattering ratio profiles. Occasionally the water vapour content exceeds 100% relative humidity within the clouds, and this might be the sig-nature of spontaneous Raman scattering by liquid water in the cloud droplets. The measured water vapour content in excess to the saturation, might provide information about the liquid water content of cloud droplets.
