Abstract

In the post-earthquake context in Abruzzo, the historical building heritage of the small centers constitute a significant offer of housing whose project must be addressed in view of a “controlled transformation.” In response to the change of the residential settlement model and to the light of new life models and family organization, with the aim of redefining new types of housing, a methodological and operation approach has been defined. This approach aims at identifying new users’ potential and different needs, defining new possible types of housing and assessing if the new solutions proposed are compatible with the levels of transformability of historic built heritage. In this way it is possible to avoid actions of simple technological transfer and to research specific codes of design feasibility.
