The characterization of the solar photospheric velocity pattern is very relevant for the modelling of the stellar envelopes. In this work, we present a new approach to the photospheric vertical velocity pattern, based on the analysis of the scaling properties of the small scale motions on the solar atmosphere. In more detail, we investigate the scaling features of the vertical velocity pattern, as observed by the Italian Panoramic Monochromator (IPM) mounted at the THEMIS telescope, by means of the Extended Self-Similarity (ESS) analysis. The results are discussed in the framework of the spatial pattern formation in nonequilibrium magnetofluid systems and their relevance in the solar physics is pointed out.
